Lot Description
1936 50C Elgin MS68 PCGS. Created to mark the one hundredth anniversary of the founding of Elgin, Illinois. Sharply struck on all of the design features, with exceedingly bright, frosty luster and near-pristine surfaces that only reveal a couple of tiny contact marks on obverse and reverse alike (do not expect to see any of these without some sort of a magnifier.) The centers of each side are untoned, while the peripheries are toned slightly on the reverse, and with variegated, lovely colors on the obverse. One of just three pieces graded at MS68, by PCGS, and none are known any finer, at either of the major services (01/05). From the Bruce Scher #1 All-Time PCGS Registry Set.
