Lot Description
1922 50C Grant With Star MS66 PCGS. CAC. Even though the 1922 Grant With Star half dollar is basically a manufactured add-on whose sole purpose was apparently to stimulate more sales of the new "variety," the issue has also been a key to the popular "classic" silver commemorative series for decades, along with a couple of other issues. Gem coins are in strong demand among series completists, and they are rare at that grade level. The Premium Gem grade of the present coin sets it into a different class of conditional rarity: PCGS has seen only 33 submissions in MS66, plus one in MS66+ and four finer (11/12). Abundant luster permeates the surfaces of this beautiful coin, lightly pastel-toned in mint, lavender, and golden-gray tones. The sometimes-problematic cheek of General Grant is pristine here. A super example for a fine collection.
