Lot Description
A superlative, blazing full-red gem having needle-sharp, frosty motifs and glittering mirror fields. Virtually as nice as the moment it came from the dies. This variety has a reverse that was made from a hub intended for the production of circulation-strike dies. In this case the hub was used to make a proof reverse, which was then used in the manufacture of a unknown, but small number of 1998-S proofs. Because of the fact that this variety has only recently come to the attention of the collector community, it appears that no solid consensus has yet emerged with respect to pricing, and for this reason the variety remains unpriced in the 2012 edition of the Guide Book.
