Lot Description
1936-D 50C San Diego MS68 S NGC. The San Diego pieces were coined in two different years at two different mints, and interestingly enough, Philadelphia was not one of them. This outstanding survivor hails from the 1936-D issue, which has a net mintage of only 30,092 pieces. Warm tan-gold and lavender-gray covers the obverse, while the reverse exhibits more vibrant orange, pink, and blue-violet colors. Not just the only coin graded MS68 S, this piece is the single example certified as MS68 by either NGC or PCGS (4/07). From The Cary & Cheryl Porter Collection.
