Cornelius Vermeule III Collection - Stack’s 9/2011:421 - Dr. Hesselgesser Collection - Goldbergs 9/5/2011:5024, $60,375
Only two examples have been verified of the 1796 BB-62 Silver Dollar, despite several citations in the auction record (these have either been discredited or confimred to be a misattribution). The first example (and the best of the two at PCGS XF45+) is the Straus-Spies-Warren Miller example. The second example turned up in the Cornelius Vermeule III collection in 2001 and has since been certified by PCGS as a F15 -- it sold in a 2011 auction for $60,375. Based on that record, the better of the two coins could be worth six figures if it crosses the auction block in the near future.
