Ron Guth: The 1861-O Bisected date is named appropriately based on the thin, vertical die crack that skims the left side of the 6, running vertically from the rim to the base upon which Liberty sits. This appears to be a very scarce variety.  As of July 2011, PCGS has certified only two examples - one AU53 and one AU55.
