Ron Guth: The 1843 Half Dollar is a common coin with the largest mintage of the series since the series began in 1839 (in fact, the mintage would not be exceeded until 1854).  Circulated examples are plentiful and even Mint State coins can be found with ease.  The PCGS CoinFacts Condition Census starts at MS60 and goes to MS65. However, the finest example is the monster NGC MS67* from the Eric Newman and Eugene Gardner collections.
