David Akers: The 1902-O Barber Half Dollar is one of the major rarities in the series, certainly ranking in the top 20% of the 74 issues in terms of both overall mint state rarity and Gem mint state rarity. The relatively few Uncirculated specimens that seem to be around of this issue are invariably poorly struck..., and are typically rather lackluster as well. A fully struck 1902-O may not even exist, at least I have never see or heard of one...

Ron Guth: The 1902-O Half Dollar is scarce in most grades and it is particularly so in Mint State.  Like most of the Barber Half Dollars that originated at the New Orleans Mint, this date often suffers from a weak strike, but one that is not nearly as bad on some other dates.  The 1902-O Half Dollar often appears lackluster, but there are also some exceptionally lovely examples that offer bright luster and strong eye appeal.  The finest example is the NGC MS67 Hugon Collection example.  The price record-holder for the date is the ex-Duckor piece that sold for $19,550 in 2010.
