David Akers (1975/88): A very scarce date, although when available, invariably choice. This is the last really scarce Liberty Head quarter eagle, although the dates from 1896 to 1899 are also moderately scarce. Note: Gem specimens of any Liberty Head quarter eagle are uncommon and, although the dates from 1900 to 1907 are generally termed "common dates", only the 1907 has a mintage in excess of a quarter million pieces.
